Flooring news June 2017 – Below Decks

Below Decks, a Beautiful Marine Floors agent based in Bournemouth, are a family run business. They are proudly owned by the husband and wife team of Jan and Nigel Oates.

This month, they have had two orders to upgrade “Tonkri”, a Sea Ray 290. Recently, synthetic teak decking was fitted in the cockpit area. This month specialist removable over-carpets were made for the interior.

The owner and his late wife previously owned a boat when they lived and worked near London. Now, the owner lives near Poole close to his family, including his grandchildren.

He decided to acquire another boat to base at Cobbs Marina, which could be a project/hobby for him and a lovely “escape pod” for the family. “Tonkri” was acquired last year and has undergone some upgrading. This also included the recently installed synthetic teak decking for the cockpit area.

The original internal carpets were in a poor state, so something had to be done. Removing the existing covering to replace throughout with new would’ve been too expensive. Removable over-carpets were considered the most effective solution, and the photos show the finished effect. This provides a lighter ambience below when compared with the old blue sections, and complements the new upholstery.
